Calendars and Planners

When deciding what kind of promotional item to give away there are many choices to make. Do you want to give away something specific to each customer? Or do you want to have something general but useful for everyone? This is a very important decision as the whole purpose of a promotional item is to gain attention for your business or product. Given the goal it makes sense to choose an item that your customer or clients will use on a daily basis, or at least a couple of times a week. Because of this it seems almost natural to give away a calendar or day planner. After all almost everyone uses calendars, and most people would use a day planner if they had one.

Limited Use
While calendars are a great promotional product, after all now you have something that will remind the customer of you 365 days a year, they do have one problem. This problem is that most calendars only are good for one year, and if you are almost done with a year, a calendar for that year may not be as useful. However this has an easy solution order calendars for three years, that way you should have a calendar that is useful for any time of year.
Day planners have a similar problem, but this problem is further compounded by the fact that most cell phones now have day planners built into them. However there are still plenty of people who prefer to keep track of their appointments in a planner so this problem largely takes care of itself. Also given the difficulty of finding day planners lately, offering one as a free gift is sure to make someone happy.

Choosing the Right Calendar and Planner
Now that the major problems with calendars and day planners have been addressed it is time to look at the best kind of these items to give away. Calendars specially come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. There are small pocket calendars, big picturesque calendars, desk calendars, and even day by day calendars. Given all these choices it might seem that once again making a decision would be very difficult. This is not actually the case, all that is needed is some thought to exactly what you want to achieve with your promotional campaign and the answer will come out pretty quickly.

The first thing to figure out is who you are giving the product away too. Is this an effort to spread the word of your business or service? Or is this a way to encourage customer loyalty? If the first answer is the case than something that is easy to give away to people is your best bet. Think of using a pocket calendar. These small calendars are easily portable and cheap in large volumes. They are also something most people will keep and when they look at it they will be reminded of your business or service. If, however, you are giving away promotional items because you want to encourage repeat customers, something a little larger and prominent would be appropriate. After all its hard to forget where the beautiful calendar on the wall came from when you look at it ever day.

When thinking of giving away planners, a lot of the rules with giving away calendars still apply. If it is a promotion simply to get the word out, go with something small and cheap that can be given out easily. If you have a smaller crowd in mind then investing in something a little fancier can have some very good results. Either way is sure to yield something positive.

It would be nice if there was such a thing as a one size fits all promotional product. However each promotional campaign is as unique as the business or individual conducting it. Because of this some thought and planning is required. However if the proper fore thought is put into any plan, that plan as much more a chance of success than just going off the top of our head. In the end calendars and day planners are a pretty safe way to go. They are something almost everyone finds useful and more often than not they are cheap in bulk.
