One of the best types of things to give away as a promotional item, is of course, something that the customer is going to use on a daily basis. The reason for this is simple, every time the customer uses the item, they will by the nature of where it came from, give a thought about your business. Yet there is also a need to keep the item unique. After all, there is only so much a pen can keep your business in someone’s mind when their pen cup is full of pens from a variety of business. One type of item that you might want to think of giving away is promotional bags or briefcases.

Exploring Your Bag and Briefcase Options
The bag and briefcase comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and uses. There are tote bags, hand bags, bag packs, brief cases, lap top cases, and many more such items. Given all the choice available it becomes paramount to know what kind of customers you have. Knowing this will help decide what would work best as a promotional item. Also knowing your customer base will help you determine what you should put on the thing you are giving away.

Knowing Your Audience
If you have a very professional crowd, chances are that they already have a briefcase, and a lap top bag. So you can either go with another kind of item such as a hand bag for the Mrs. Or perhaps go with an unusual high quality briefcase or lap top bag. After all if you give a loyal customer something really nice, they are sure to appreciate it and show their appreciation by continuing to patronize your business. However if that is not in your budget a bag pack they can give to their children, or a tote bag they can use for less formal carrying things could work as well. Also when you are dealing with a professional crowd, you might want to keep the logo small and inconspicuous.

If you cater to a younger crowd of college students than the tote bag seems an almost give me item. However everyone gives away tote bags to college students at the beginning of the year. What a college student might really appreciate is a back pack. Again you are looking at getting a bit pricey, but with all the effort that people put into attracting the student crowd, having something that stands out from the rest is a great way to get noticed. The nice thing is that college students are less likely to care if a big logo is on their bag, and this is great advertising as college students tend to go about everywhere.

Meeting the Needs of Female Customers
When it comes to giving products to a largely female customer base the good news is that there are more choices, the bad news is that each woman is an individual and that individuality is important for them to express in what they wear as well as what they carry. Just take a look at any department store, and you will see that virtually every woman in the store has a hand bag that does not look like anyone else’s. Given this observation, it seems almost pointless to use a bag or briefcase to show them your appreciation. However while woman may strive for individuality for their own personal carrying items, chances are they have or know children who would be more than happy to get a new back pack, tote bag, gym bag, or other similar thing. A good idea would be to have two items available. A nice hand bag, or a bag meant for a child. Give your customer her choice of the gift. This not only means the gift will be used by someone, but it also makes you look like a nice guy who is willing to offer a choice even when giving a gift.

It may seem that using bags and briefcases as a promotional item can be a little difficult. However if you put enough thought and creativity into it, these things can be some of the most effective marketing tools you have used. The trick is to know who your customers are, what they need, and to provide it to them. Once that is done you are in good hands.
